This is something new I'm setting up to run alongside canaryforum. First my apologies to canaryforum members who received auto emails about this. Never my intention but I didn't check the settings properly before giving anyone access here who wanted it and without realising the emails were sent.

I wanted to create a separate place for business here to advertise for free and let everyone know about special offers and events they have so there's just that, a directory / listings system for people to add their business or service to and a community system to show what events and offers they have coming up.

Anyone who logs on can check the news feed to see what's happening, what's coming up and check the calendar of events.

If I can find more, interesting ways for people to advertise and promote what they have to offer here around the islands, I'll be adding it over the next fews days and hopefully will have this up and running early next month (Feb 2012)

As a guest you can add a listing but it will need to be approved first by an admin so won't appear straight away. Listings are checked at the end of each day and we'll send you an email once it's been added.

We will automatically create a profile account for you to link to your listing. You are not required to do anything further but your profile allows you to add photos, news, updates, events, videos and more for visitors to see.

As a registered member (so if you register and log in before adding your listing) a profile is automatically created, your listing is automatically approved, listed and linked to your profile so you can start using the features straight away.

You didn't register before adding it so it will need to be approved first by an admin.

Submissions are checked at the end of each day.

If you decide not to wait but would rather register then add it again, no problem. We will see the duplicate entry, add the correct one and delete the other you created as a guest.

New questions are not automatically added or answered.

We receive an email with your question and will answer by email. If it is a topic often questioned, we will then add a new listing to the FAQ section.

This is actually done via your profile.

First log on as a registered member.

Click on the events tab at the top of the display.

Select "create an event" - top right of the display.

Fill in the form and your event is created.

Nothing, it's free! There's no charge for using any part of the site so add your listing or event and publicise it with photos & videos - all for free.

Navigate to the listing that interests you, click on it's title to get a "details" view then at the bottom of the page, select "write a review"

Anyone registered with canaryforum before 20/01/2012 has a blank profile created here too, same username and password. 

As a guest you can view profile names, events and updates and any photos or videos a user has decided to make public.

As a member you can add photos, videos and choose to share them with the public, other members or just friends here.

In order to add photos, videos events and updates then yes, you will need to register first to create a profile.

The default option is that other members can view anything you add to your profile, guests can only see your username.

In order to change that setting and more you need to log on. Next, under the profile tab you will find privacy settings. Select this setting and you will see how to make parts of your profile visible to either the public, other members or certain members (friends) you have here.

Log on, select the profile tab then edit settings and top right of the display is the option to delete profile.

This is done automatically. When someone clicks on your listing at the bottom of your page is the link to your profile.
